Hi! I’m a board-certified psychiatrist and a passionate advocate for improving mental health awareness and care for new parents and parents-to-be.
I specialize in Reproductive Psychiatry, a small but growing field that focuses on treating mental health concerns at times of hormonal transition (related to the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause). Many general psychiatrists and other mental health providers unfortunately have little to no training in these areas, so working with a reproductive psychiatrist ensures you have access to expert knowledge and care at these important stages. Before starting my own practice, I completed my psychiatry residency at UCSF and worked on faculty at UC Davis.
My office is in Midtown and I also offer virtual visits. I see patients for a variety of symptoms and conditions during pregnancy and postpartum, including anxiety, depression, other mood fluctuations, stress, insomnia, intrusive thoughts, trauma, loss, post-weaning depression, ADHD, and OCD. If you have a history of a mental health condition or take medication, it can also be helpful to plan ahead for pregnancy or postpartum by consulting with a reproductive psychiatrist.
Providing warm, responsive, and individualized care is my utmost goal. I approach mental health holistically, taking into consideration not only your emotional context, but also your physical, social, and relational health. These are all vital to understand and support in order to improve your symptoms, your quality of life, and your bandwidth as a new parent.
