Welcome!

I'm Elise Planty, LM CPM

I am a Licensed Midwife who provides support to families seeking informed, compassionate care for their homebirth and beyond.

Keep Birth Sacred

I support clients by building wisdom, providing guidance, and preparing emotionally, logistically, and physically for birth and postpartum. Births tend to go incredibly well when we, as providers, support parents in feeling connected to their decision making, intuition, and instincts. My focus is not to step in the way of what is brilliantly taking place in the labor and birth setting, but instead to bring confidence and steady support, offering reminders and suggestions when called for. I am very intentional about informed consent and transparency every step of the way. I take pride in my positive outcomes and the ability to help families feel empowered and well cared for.

About

After the home birth of my first daughter in 2010, I felt a strong calling to midwifery. With my five-month-old by my side, I took a doula training and began supporting women in home, birth center and hospital settings. I eventually saved up the resources to attend midwifery school at the National Midwifery Institute. I was fortunate enough to learn from midwives in both home and birth center settings, both rural and in the city. I have never felt so “at home” in my work as I do when I am serving as a Midwife.

My other credentials include a BA in Spanish, Minor in Communications, and a Massage Therapy Certification from the Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy.

When I am not at “work,” I enjoy being in nature with my husband and three kiddos! We love visiting our farm in Mendocino County where I have grown many medicinal herbs over the years and still make tea blends, healing ointments, and tinctures. I love watching my kids do what they are excited about; from art to sports to dancing in the kitchen! Fun fact about me: my daughters were both over nine-pound and my son clocked in at 11 pounds, 5 ounces! My home births gave me a lot of confidence and embodiment of what is possible in birth.
I hope that you have the birth of your dreams! I am here to remind you that you are incredible!

Hear from my families

"Warm, compassionate, and knowledgeable. These are only few of the many great qualities Elise offers. We had the wonderful chance to have been blessed with her as our guide from the start of my pregnancy to welcoming our sweet baby into the world with Elise. There are no words to express or begin to the explain the journey that she has made so special. Without a doubt has changed our lives forever and Elise has such a special place in our hearts. Forever grateful for the care, support, understanding, and love she offers during such a special time. Truly the best!"

"As a first-time mother, my biggest desire for my birth experience was peace and calm, something I felt I wouldn't find in a hospital setting. Elise ensured I had the most incredible experience imaginable. I feel deeply grateful to have had her as my midwife. Elise is truly amazing, combining wisdom and a calming presence. I highly recommend her to anyone considering a home birth—you won't be disappointed!" -Carina Garbuzova "Elise was so kind and patient, and helped me immensely, especially when I reached the part of labor where I truly thought I couldn’t keep going. She left such a wonderful impression on my family, and we will always remember her glowing spirit and calm energy. I highly suggest working with Elise in any capacity you can, you won’t regret it!" -Mackenzie Dailey "Elise came into my home and she felt like an old friend. She has a calming and warm presence and while I was nervous letting anyone near my new baby, I always felt completely comfortable with her. Elise was made for this work. She helped us through feeding struggles in a non judgmental way. She provided me with resources when I was struggling with my recovery physically. I never doubted that Elise truly cared about both me and my baby."
